The Atlantic cod is a highly prized game fish known for its strong fighting ability and good table fare. It is a medium to large-sized fish with a broad head, a long chin barbel, and a distinctive lateral line. Atlantic cod are anadromous, but some populations are strictly marine, and are widely distributed across the North Atlantic.
